Despite Series Win, World Series Futures Favor Mets More than Phillies

Alright, look, it’s still June and there’s a lot of baseball left to be played.
BUT –
Everyone with a microphone and a Twitter account claimed this past weekend’s series between the Phillies and Mets as important.
The Phils won two of the three games in the series, moving their record to 47-31, but they are still behind the Mets on the World Series futures boards.
bet365 lists the Phils at +1000, a slight price behind the Mets at +900. The Dodgers (+230), Yankees (+600) and Tigers (+800) are the top three.
At BetMGM, the Phils and Mets have the same prices, but the Dodgers are +250, Yankees are +600 and Tigers are +700.
The Phillies are still considered one of the five best teams in baseball by the oddsmakers, which is a fantastic label to have at this juncture of the season.
It’s going to be difficult for anyone to leapfrog the Dodgers on the odds board until the NL West side is on the brink of elimination, and that will affect how the Phillies are priced from now until October.
I would be stunned if the Phils drop beneath +600 or +700, even if they get red-hot this summer, because of how much the books value the Dodgers, who look stronger now that Shohei Ohtani is back on the mound.
Maybe the Phillies’ number moves a bit after this week. Houston is +1200 at bet365 and +1400 at BetMGM to win the Fall Classic. There’s also a BetMGM PA casino bonus to check out.
The Phils face Houston’s two best pitchers in the series with Framber Valdez opposing Ranger Suarez on Tuesday and Hunter Brown going up against Zack Wheeler (what a matchup by the way) on Thursday afternoon.
That’s the only needle-moving series left before the All-Star break for the Phillies’ World Series odds, but that doesn’t mean the stretch before mid-July is easy.
The six games (three home, three road) against San Diego will be fascinating, who knows what the Braves will look like with no Chris Sale, and the Giants have improved after the Rafael Devers trade. The Reds are the only team you can the Phils have the potential to sweep with ease.
Right now, +1000 is a fair price. It’s one that more of you might be tempted to grab given how well the weekend set with the Mets went.
