Flyers a Slight Home Dog as Early Murderer’s Row Schedule Brings Winnipeg to Town

The Flyers will try to go 2-0 at home in the Rick Tocchet era on Thursday night against Winnipeg.
They’re a +115 money line underdog at bet365. That’s a little sign of respect for the performances the Flyers put together to start the season.
Monday’s win came against the Panthers. The two road losses were by one goal to the Panthers and in overtime to the Hurricanes.
So that’s two Stanley Cup contenders that the Flyers have played decent enough against to be in the mix for a win. The Jets fall into the same category as the Panthers and Hurricanes in the upper echelon of their respective conferences.
In March, the Flyers beat the Jets and took them to a shootout in a loss, so I wouldn’t expect a blowout, even with one of the best goalies in hockey, Connor Hellebuyck, in net for the visitors.
The early shots on goal data from both teams isn’t exactly positive. The Jets average 26 shots per game, while the Flyers are at a lowly 21.7 shots per game.
However, the Flyers allow 33 shots per game and the Jets’ number is at 34.7, so maybe there’s a path to the Flyers scoring a decent amount.
I will note that the Flyers have a wider net to cast when it comes to potential scorers, or just flat out puck rippers. They have seven guys with five or more SOG through three games.
Winnipeg relies a lot on its top line of Kyle Connor, Mark Scheifele, and Gabriel Vilardi, who have 28 SOG between them.
As for PA betting promos and NJ sportsbook promos, bet365 has a 30 percent SGP boost for Thursday’s NHL action that I would use for SOG props. I’d combine Connor 3+ SOG with Owen Tippett 2+ SOG and Trevor Zegras 2+ SOG to get to +300 before the boost.
Connor is Winnipeg’s top shooter, while Tippett and Zegras had six SOG on 11 attempts in Monday’s win over the Panthers.
I would use BetMGM’s NHL Odds Boost Token on the Flyers +1.5 on the spread. It’s a hefty price at -220 before the boost, but it’s a number worth looking at given how the Flyers have played over the first three games.
