Flyers Are Only +110 Underdog Against Oilers

I’ll be honest I was surprised when I saw the Flyers were only a +110 money-line underdog at BetMGM for Wednesday’s home clash with the Edmonton Oilers. Obviously, the Oilers have the better top-end talent with Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl:

Those two stars have strong head-to-head histories against the Flyers, even though they only play twice a season. McDavid has 11 goals and 22 assists in 17 games versus the Flyers. Draisaitl produced 10 goals and 15 assists in the same span. Draisaitl has three straight multi-point games against the Flyers. He’s had multiple points in five of his last seven games versus the Flyers. McDavid has seven points across his last three matchups with the Flyers.

You can try to sell me on the Flyers money line because the Oilers haven’t been great this season. They’ve lost three of their last four and they needed a third-period surge on Monday just to push Columbus to overtime.

The counter to that is the Oilers turned a corner with that overtime win and the Flyers could be the first of a few teams that Edmonton terrorizes on its seven-game road swing.

The one way the Flyers can beat Edmonton is through the one minor defensive hole the Oilers have. Edmonton gives up the 13th-most shots per game to left wingers. Trevor Zegras and Owen Tippett, two of the Flyers’ highest-volume shooters, play on the left wing.

It’s a no-brainer to say the Flyers need their big guns to counter whatever the Oilers throw at them, but that point really gets driven home when you look at the stats in the matchup.

After throwing all of those stats around, here’s the best way to play any Same Game Parlays.

I’d go McDavid and Draisaitl to each have a point, McDavid 3+ shots on goal and Zegras 2+ shots on goal. That gets you to +240 at bet365.

I wouldn’t be opposed to increasing the point props for McDavid and Draisaitl to 2 each and pair them with McDavid 3+ SOG and Zegras 2+ SOG at +550.

I know it’s not easy to bet against a Philly team, but the matchup is too good to ignore with Edmonton’s top guys, and look, the Oilers big guns can perform and the Flyers can still win. But if the Draisaitl and McDavid matchup scares you off you can always play on PA casino apps instead.
