One of the most unique days on the sporting calendar is here.

The NHL’s Frozen Frenzy opens with the Flyers hosting the Pittsburgh Penguins.

All 32 teams play on Tuesday with a RedZone-style broadcast on the ESPN channels thanks to each game starting 20-30 minutes apart. It’s actually a really cool thing to tune into. We’ll have plenty of time to check it out here with the Flyers and Pens opening the slate.

The Flyers are a -160 money line favorite at DraftKings against a Pittsburgh team that was one of four to play on Monday night:

While it’s a short trip from the western part of Pennsylvania, it’s still the second end of a back-to-back for the Pens, which plays into the Flyers’ favor, especially with the game at Xfinity Mobile Arena.

The Flyers are 4-1 on home ice and they’ve only allowed more than two goals in one of those four victories.

The Flyers money line seems like the easiest pick to make on the game, and it will likely be one of the first pieces of night-long parlays to take advantage of offers, like DraftKings’ Stepped Up Parlay in which you get a bigger boost with each leg added.

If you’re like me and probably won’t be up for the west coast games, there’s still plenty there to put together an early-slate parlay. Grab a DraftKings promo code to get started.

Here’s what I cooked up (+1910, boosted to +2388) –

  • Flyers ML
  • Maple Leafs Team Total o3.5 (Calgary conceded 5+ goals in three of five road games)
  • Blue Jackets-Sabres o6.5 (Five of last six Sabres games have had 6+ goals. Columbus’ last three games: 5-1, 5-1, 5-4)
  • Islanders Team Total o3.5 (Boston allowed 4+ goals in six of last eight games)
  • Sam Reinhart Over 2.5 Shots On Goal (100 percent hit rate in five home games this season)

As for the Flyers game itself, I’d ride the wave with Owen Tippett shots on goal. He’s had multiple attempts on target in all but one game this season and had 14 SOGs in his last three home games. The Over 2.5 shots on goal prop sits at -140 at DK:

I’d also bet the under when Sam Ersson saves props come out. The Penguins are in the middle of a lineup rearrangement after Rickard Rakell got placed on IR. Pittsburgh only put 25 shots on goal last night, despite scoring six against St. Louis. The Flyers average 26.5 shots against per game.
