Phillies Only +125 on the Money Line with Taijuan Walker Opposing Robbie Ray in San Francisco

It’s a bit surprising to see the Phillies only at +125 on the money line for Tuesday’s clash with the Giants.
The pitching matchup of Taijuan Walker versus Robbie Ray suggests there should be even more of a price disparity.
Ray’s been pretty good for San Francisco this season with a 9-3 mark, a 2.68 ERA, and 117 strikeouts. He’s coming off a 102-pitch complete game in his last start against the DBacks in which he struck out seven and gave up two earned runs.
If there’s one reason for hope for the Phils, it’s the fact that they’re the only team to score more than three earned runs off Ray all season.
The Phils did that back on April 16th at home, when they scored four in the first four innings. We’ll ignore how the rest of that game played out.
Three bats in the heart of the Phillies order, Bryce Harper, Alec Bohm, and Nick Castellanos, all have good career numbers against Ray. Harper owns two home runs in 12 at-bats, one of which came in the April home game. Bohm and Castellanos both have averages over .400 against the left-hander as well.
So yeah, there’s actually a case to be made for the Phils at +125, but in case you’re not sold on Walker, I’d go after the over on Ray’s earned runs allowed prop of 2.5.
BetMGM has an All Sports Odds Boost Token available for Tuesday. I’d use that to boost up the +105 on the over 2.5 earned runs allowed.
It’s certainly not a guarantee that if the Phils chase Ray in the fifth or sixth inning that they will win.
Walker had some rough patches in his relief role and was shelled for six hits and four earned runs in an April home start against the Giants. He’s going to do his best to give the Phillies five, or hell, even six, frames of work, but I assume there will be speed bumps along the way.
The way I look at it is Walker has to get through at least three or four innings to save some parts of the bullpen.
If that’s the case, and if you think Walker won’t be good, you have to take the over on his hits allowed prop at 3.5.
For PA sports betting, I’d suggest using Walker over 3.5 hits allowed, Walker over 2.5 earned runs allowed, Ray over 2.5 runs allowed and the full game over 8.5 in a Same Game Parlay for bet365’s Safety Net Bet promotion. That SGP pays out at +625, and if it doesn’t win, you get $10 back in bonus bets for a $10 wager.
