Sixers and Flyers Road Favorites in Memphis and Vancouver, Respectively

The Sixers and Flyers are both road favorites on Tuesday night.

The Sixers are as close to full strength as they can be for the clash with the Memphis Grizzlies, while the Flyers take on a Vancouver Canucks team that they beat handily at home last week.

Sixers (-1.5; BetMGM) at Grizzlies (Over/Under 233.5)

The Sixers come into Tuesday tied for the fifth-best against the spread record in the NBA at 17-15.

The more stark trend for this matchup, though, is the Grizzlies’ 20-12 record to the under, tied for the best record to the under in the NBA with the Charlotte Hornets. It’s worth noting, however, that the Grizzlies are 3-2 to the over across their last five games. The Sixers are 4-2 to the over in their last six.

As always, Joel Embiid is questionable, but there are no other significant injuries to report.

Memphis has an extensive injury list, but Ja Morant, Jaren Jackson Jr., and some of their top young players are available for Tuesday.

I think the easiest way to approach the game from a prop perspective is to bet on Morant and Tyrese Maxey.

Maxey’s point prop sits at Over/Under 27.5 at bet365. Morant is at O/U 20.5. Maxey had 28 or more points in four of his last six, while Morant is coming off a 21-point game against the Wizards.

If you assume Maxey and Embiid produce the bulk of the scoring, one or more of Paul George, VJ Edgecombe, and Quentin Grimes has to chip in elsewhere on the stat sheet.

George is averaging 5.8 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game in December. That leads me to attack the Over 9.5 assists/rebounds prop for him at bet365. Edgecombe is averaging 4.9 boards and 3.8 helpers in the same time frame. He’s had at least eight rebounds and assists on seven occasions this month. His A/R prop sits at 8.5 at bet365.

Maxey 25+ points, George o9.5 A/R, and Edgecombe o8.5 A/R pays out at +375 at bet365.

Flyers (-135) at Canucks (O/U: 5.5)

The Flyers started their west coast swing with a loss to Seattle, but they did have 33 shots on goal. They just couldn’t find the back of the net.

That shouldn’t be the case on Tuesday against a Canucks team that they just put five goals past eight days ago at home.

Owen Tippett had a goal and 10 SOG in that victory, so it’s easy to pivot right to his props. He’s a streaky shooter, so I’d run with it while it’s hot. Tippett had four SOG in the Seattle loss.

Tippett is +135 at bet365 to have Over 2.5 SOG. I’d take a small shot at a SOG ladder up to four (+350) and five (+800) because he is ripping pucks at a high rate.

Vancouver ranks in the top 11 in shots on goal allowed per game to left and right wingers over the last 10 games, another reason to like Tippett’s props.

That trend also fits Matvei Michkov, who had four shots in the first meeting with Vancouver and has had multiple SOG in four of the last five games.

A Tippett/Michkov 2+ SOG SGP pays out at +120 at bet365. The 3+ SOG SGP sits at +550, and if you’re feeling frisky late at night, the 4+ SOG SGP is +2300.
