Sleeper Picks for CFB Week 14

Here’s a look at some of our favorite options for Saturday’s Week 14 slate in college football

Jordon Davison, Oregon RB: Longest rush More than 16.5 yards

USC’s rush defense is not very good. The Trojans are particularly bad about letting up explosive runs — they’ve given up 51 runs of 10+ yards this season, which ranks 93rd nationally. USC is also 101st nationally in EPA-per-rush allowed, per Game on Paper. Davison is part of a committee of running backs in the Oregon backfield, but he’s been by far the most explosive this season. He’s averaging an astounding 8.6 yards per carry over his last 5 games. His carry count can vary, so I prefer his ‘longest rush’ projection as opposed to his full-game rushing number.

Kenny Johnson, Pitt WR: More than 51.5 receiving yards

Kenny Johnson has had an excellent last few weeks with the Panthers, and he’s Pitt’s top pass-catcher this season. It’s also true that Johnson is facing a really bad Georgia Tech secondary this week, one that just allowed 362 passing yards the week prior. Not to mention, the Panthers are still alive for a spot in the Playoff thanks to a down ACC this season. I’m not sure how this game will go, but I’m willing to bet that it’ll be a high-scoring affair. I’ll take Johnson having a strong day against the Yellow Jackets.

Cutter Boley, Kentucky QB:  More 205.5 passing yards

I usually make a rule for myself to stay away from picking players on bad teams, but I’m making an exception here. Boley absolutely tore Tennessee’s defense to shreds a few weeks ago, and Vanderbilt’s secondary has struggled in similar fashion. And don’t forget, Vanderbilt is still fighting for a spot in a bowl game, so they’ll be fighting tough here against the Commodores. Is this a potential look-ahead spot for Vanderbilt?
