The Eagles Defense is Key as Favorites Against the Lions

The Eagles are a 2.5-point favorite for the latest game in their gauntlet of a schedule against the Lions on Sunday night. The Birds can add another high-quality win to their resume. They already have victories over the Chiefs, Bucs, Rams and Packers.
Honestly, there isn’t much reason to doubt Nick Sirianni’s team at this point, even with all the A.J. Brown drama or non-drama emanating from the locker room every week. Like it was on Monday, I think the Eagles defense is the key. The Lions’ three losses are to the Chiefs, Packers and Vikings. They scored over 20 points once in those three games. One of the big keys inside the defense is to get to the quarterback. I know, it’s not exactly rocket science, but when Jared Goff gets sacked, he gets sacked. Goff suffered four or more sacks in four games. Two of those instances occurred in losses to Green Bay and Minnesota. Tampa Bay and Cincinnati also got a ton of pressure on him.
It’s a bold take to recommend Goff to have Under 239.5 passing yards at BetMGM, but it’s happened four times this season and twice in losses.
The offensive key for the Birds is to run the ball with Saquon Barkley, whose rushing yards prop sits at Over/Under 69.5. Detroit’s only allowed three teams to run for over 100 yards this season, but and you’re sensing a theme here, two of those occurrences were in losses. I would target Barkley and Dallas Goedert for props. I know we’ve focused so much on the Brown nonsense, but credit where it’s due for Goedert, who already set a career high in receiving touchdowns.
Goedert’s receiving-yard prop sits at O/U 38.5 and his reception prop is O/U 4.5. I’d take the over on both. I think Goedert is vital in the matchup, especially if Detroit’s pass rush forces Hurts to make quick throws or work on the move.
At bet365, I’d put together a SGP of Barkley 70+ rushing yards, Goedert o38.5 receiving yards, and Goff u241.5 passing yards and I’d recommend seeing if you can boost that with PA betting promos.
Bet365 typically has sack props available on the day of the game. I’d look into Jaelan Phillips or Jordan Davis if they become available.
