NASCAR Driver Suspended Indefinitely For Dropping N-Bomb

NASCAR driver Kyle Larson was doing a virtual race via livestream when he dropped the ‘N’ word this weekend, resulting in this, via ESPN:

Chip Ganassi Racing has suspended driver Kyle Larson without pay after he used a racial slur on a livestream during a virtual race Sunday.

“We are extremely disappointed by what Kyle said last night during an iRacing Event. The words that he chose to use are offensive and unacceptable. As of this moment we are suspending Kyle without pay while we work through this situation with all appropriate parties,” Ganassi Racing said in a statement.

Larson was doing a mic check when he said, “you can’t hear me? hey, n*****”

NASCAR also suspended him indefinitely, giving this statement:

NASCAR has made diversity and inclusion a priority and will not tolerate the type of language used by Kyle Larson during Sunday’s iRacing event. Our Member Conduct Guidelines are clear in this regard, and we will enforce these guidelines to maintain an inclusive environment for our entire industry and fan base.

The irony here is that Larson is half-Japanese and came through NASCAR’s “Drive for Diversity” program in 2012. The point of the program is to attract minorities and women to a sport typically dominated by white dudes.
