From Dade Hayes at Deadline:

Comcast’s Spectacor division is pulling the plug on video game-centric network G4 TV, whose early incarnation in the 2000s remains a cultural touchstone for many millennials, just a year after its relaunch.

In a memo set to be sent out to all employees, Spectacor CEO Dave Scott explained that the company’s investment and efforts to revive the network just didn’t gain traction.

A few dozen employees and contract workers are affected by the shutdown. Comcast said it will assist them with outplacement and consider some for internal opportunities.

You might remember G4 from back in the day, when it launched in 2002 with Chris Hardwick, Olivia Munn, Kevin Pereira, and others. Attack of the Show and all of that. They had some goofy ass entertaining stuff on that channel. The network lasted until 2014, then Comcast announced in 2020 that they were going to revive it.

Deadline obtained the memo from Dave Scott to employees, which said in part that “viewership is low and the network has not achieved sustainable financial results.”

Comcast has invested a lot in gaming in recent years, most notably with the Philadelphia Fusion Overwatch team and recently-rejiggered South Philly arena, which is going to now be a multi-purpose venue. They also have T1, which is the partnership with SK Telecom in South Korea.
