Penn State vs. WVU this weekend:

Just so we have this straight, Jalen Hurts reportedly is keeping Philadelphia schools open by donating air conditioners, while Pat McAfee is shutting down West Virginia schools by creating too much traffic.

I can see it, though. Morgantown is like Manayunk, if Manayunk was steeper and the streets were more curvy. Getting around is a nightmare to begin with, so you bring back a popular alumnus who is now a mega-star, throw #8 Penn State into the mix, and this is what you get. Sidebar: 20 years ago, they did a concert at this same location, the Life Sciences building, in which a relatively-new rapper known as Kanye West performed on the first day of classes.

The thing about McAfee is that I don’t think he’s been back to Morgantown since graduation. Why? Probably has something to do with the fact that he missed two field goals in one of the biggest games in program history. McAfee was both a kicker and punter on the 2007 squad that started 10-1 and lost at home to FUCKING PITT with a trip to the national title game on the line. He missed from 20 and 32 yards and so there’s a portion of WVU fans who are 35+ that see him as a choker. Maybe time has healed all of that. Dunno. The kids in school now are too young to remember the most pitiful letdown of all time, and they know McAfee as this huge celebrity now, so it’ll be nice for him to be welcomed back in a positive way.
