You’re Higher than a Kite if You Think Matt Rhule Would Turn Down Penn State to Stay at Nebraska

Watch this video and tell me if you think there’s a greater than 0% chance Matt Rhule stays at Nebraska if Penn State comes calling:
Dude spent the first minute talking about his alma mater and mentioned Pat Kraft more than once, who was Rhule’s AD at Temple. He needed more than 60 seconds before he even got to talking about his current job.
Do not overcomplicate this. If Penn State comes calling, Matt Rhule is gone. The Nittany Lions have only hired three head coaches since 1966 and this is a top-three elusive job in all of college football. It’s a better job than Nebraska, which has had one top-15 finish since George W. Bush started his second term in office. Don’t get me wrong – Nebraska is a great job, but Penn State is a top job. And that’s the fact, JACK.
Of course, this is contingent on three things.
Number one, Rhule has to finish strong. The Huskers are 5-1 right now and play Northwestern, USC, and Iowa at home. They play Penn State, UCLA, and Minnesota on the road. There’s a path to 9-3 right there, maybe 10-3 with a bowl game win. That would be consistent with Rhule’s stops at Temple and Baylor, when his teams really broke out in year #3. If Nebraska wins 10 games, he’ll absolutely be at the top of Penn State’s shortlist, which is probably already the case.
Number two, the contract terms, explained here:
Number three is the most important. You can never believe the words coming out of the mouth of a college football coach. Matt Rhule is a good dude, but he’s still a college football coach and they will all tuck tail and flee in the middle of the night if a better job comes along, bringing their wives and families with them.
At the end of the day, there is zero chance he stays at Nebraska if Penn State comes calling. It’s a stone cold, lead pipe lock. Save this post.
