This team is HOT right now! They just mash and mash and mash. 57 home runs in the month of August, five games up in the Wild Card, and it’s all got to do with the clubhouse and the way Rob Thomson lets the Phillies be themselves. Beers, basketball hoops, and scotch circles! Apparently that’s the key to success:

Who would’ve pegged Aaron Nola as the organizer? This alone might justify bringing him back. Nola orchestrating a scotch circle after wins to swap war stories with the fellas. Shades of 1993, except with fewer warrants and more talent. Like Kruk said when he toured the Vet clubhouse, games are won and lost in there:

I hope there were five finger pours for each Phillies home run Tuesday night. Nothing better than guys being dudes and there are a ton of dudes on this team. Look how they decided their fantasy football order:

Somehow, someway, the Phillies gotta add a postgame scotch circle to their auction items next year. Immediate best seller. For charity, of course.
