With a five-RBI Sunday, Alec Bohm is up to 42 on the year and on pace to knock in 142 runs, according to FanGraphs’ trusty extrapolator:

The pace is not expected to be sustainable. The previous RBI leaders over the past five seasons knocked in 139, 131, 121, 60, and 126 runs. That includes the COVID-shortened 2020 season, but if you want to take it back further, Ryan Howard, Alex Rodriguez, David Ortiz, Manny Ramirez, Mark Teixeira, Miguel Tejada, and Prince Fielder are the only players over the past 20 years to have a single season RBI number above 140. Howard did it three times, knocking in 141 in 2009, 146 in 2008, and then the legendary 149 RBI in 2006.

But this is a nice snapshot of just how good Bohm has been through the early part of the season. He’s posting career numbers across the board, slashing .330/.389/.528 with a .917 OPS. His best career OPS is .881, posted in the 44 games he played at age 23, the COVID year. Bohm already has 18 doubles and a 2.0 WAR, and the questions about his fielding and defensive play largely are not questions anymore.
