The Minnesota Twins are arguably the team with the biggest sway on this trade deadline. Jhoan Duran is the best reliever available, and Griffin Jax is a really good arm with multiple years of control left. Jayson Stark hopped on 97.5 The Fanatic Wednesday to talk about the Phillies, and mentioned a few big notes in regards to a potential trade:

“I honestly think their top target has become Griffin Jax, setup man for Jhoan Duran,” Stark said.

He noted that the Twins aren’t dying to trade Jax, but teams are calling about the reliever. Stark also mentioned this:

“If they do trade Jhoan Duran, it seems to me like they’re asking for Andrew Painter”

It seems like the Phillies really want Duran. Dave Dombrowski wants fire at the back of his bullpen, and Duran would be exactly that:

Update as of July 30th at 3:02 EST:

The Phillies are “refusing to even entertain the thought” of moving Andrew Painter, per The Athletic.
