Phillies first baseman Bryce Harper has officially committed to play for Team USA in the upcoming World Baseball Classic, he announced on Instagram on Tuesday morning.

Harper wore the red, white, and blue for America for the first time when he was 15, as he said in his Instagram post. He later played for the U-18 Team USA back in 2008, before he was drafted by the Nationals. Harper was committed to join Kyle Schwarber, J.T. Realmuto, and Trea Turner on the World Baseball Classic team back in 2023, but was unable to play due to Tommy John surgery recovery.

Team USA is putting together The Avengers. Tarik Skubal and Paul Skenes highlight the pitching staff. Bobby Whit Jr, Aaron Judge, Kyle Schwarber, Cal Raleigh, Gunnar Henderson, Pete Crow-Armstrong, and more will be in the lineup. Team USA is putting together a gauntlet, and if they play the Dominican Republic in the tournament, it may be one of the best baseball games ever played. Team DR has guys like Juan Soto, Manny Machado, Ketel Marte, Fernando Tatis Jr, Vladdy Jr, and more.

The World Baseball Classic was a major hit back in 2023, highlighted by Trea Turner’s grand slam against Venezuela. It’s tracking to be an even better tournament in the early spring of 2026.
