Both guys will get some time at third base. Obviously Bohm can also play first base, and if they did indeed flirt with the idea of trading him, they can rev up the market and perhaps push his value up, then work a move later. The big question has always been about Bohm’s defense, even if he does enough hitting.
Stott is a shortstop by trade, but can play both of the middle infield spots. I know that scares some people, because they automatically think “Scott Kingery” and become triggered, but Didi Gregorius probably will not play every day at SS, so there will be opportunities to even get both guys in the lineup at the same time.
There’s going to be enough at bats to go around, one would think. They’ll both play enough to justify their existence on the roster. Bohm on the bench gives you a righty to go to as well. Maybe Kyle Schwarber sits against some lefties. These things have a way of working themselves out, and with the added flexibility of the DH, you can work enough scenarios between Stott/Bohm/Rhys Hoskins/etc to figure this all out on the fly.
It gives the Phillies options, but regardless, good to see both guys on the big roster to start the season.
