Former Philadelphia Phillie and South Jersey native Buddy Kennedy is a World Series Champion before the series has even started.
Kennedy began the year with the Phillies, taking seven at-bats in the majors before being DFA’d on June 30th. He was outrighted to Lehigh Valley, elected free agency, then signed with the Toronto Blue Jays on a minor league contract on July 9th. The utility man took 5 at-bats for the Blue Jays before being DFA’d again on August 12th, then claimed by the Dodgers off of waivers three days later. Kennedy played in 7 games with the Dodgers, then was DFA’d by Los Angeles. He returned to Toronto on September 1st on a minor league contract and was assigned to the Buffalo Bisons.
Since Kennedy played for both the Blue Jays and Dodgers this season, he’ll get a World Series ring no matter who wins the Fall Classic.
By the looks of his Instagram story, it doesn’t really seem like he cares who wins the series.
Kennedy totaled 29 at-bats for Phillies, Blue Jays, and Dodgers in 2025 with two hits. He batted .069 with a .260 OPS and a -0.5 WAR, but he can already say he’s a World Series Champion.
