Cole Hamels and Agent are Content, For Now

Cole Hamels' agent is taking the high road. When asked about a contract extension, John Boggs said they plan to wait until the end of the season to negotiate- unless, of course, the Phillies approach them: [Philly.com via Hardball Talk]
“My philosophy has always been the best position to take is one of concentrating on completing the existing contract with the club,” Boggs said. “Concentrate on the job at hand. If the Phillies determine they would like to talk to us about something, sure, we’d be all ears.”

One of the things that went somewhat overlooked was Hamels' reaction to the Cliff Lee signing. Hamels will make $9.5 million in 2011 and is obviously in line for a big raise, should he pitch well this season.
His contract isn't chopped liver either. When Hamels signed his current three-year contract in 2009, he was given the highest average annual salary ever on a multiyear contract for a starting pitcher.
