Dave Dombrowski Says the Phillies Aren’t Trading Bryce Harper

Dave Dombrowski was on Foul Territory Thursday and broke down his comments from his offseason press conference while also setting the record straight that Bryce Harper will not be traded this offseason:
This is great to hear. Especially piggy-backing off of Scott Boras’ comments the other day. Between Harper and AJ Brown I’m getting a little sick and tired of the media trying to drive a wedge between our teams and star players. The World Series is tonight and all people want to talk about is if the Phillies are going to trade Harper even though he has a no trade clause and the Phils would get 75 cents on the dollar for him.
Anyway credit for Dombrowski getting in front of this now and setting the record straight so it didn’t fester all offseason, but I mean he said what he said and I don’t think anyone misconstrued his comments. Here’s his comments if you need a refresher:
Sure he gives Bryce his flowers when he mentions he’s an All-Star caliber player, but I mean he flat out says he didn’t think Harpre had an elite year and then basically questioned his manhood and challenged him to get back to being that elite guy they gave $330 million too. He can be annoyed with how the comments took on a life of their own, and the trade rumors did get out of hand, but what he’s saying is pretty cut and dry when you re-watch. Do I think Dombrowski went on Foul Territory to do some damage control? Absolutely. Do I also think he didn’t take any comments back because he knows Harper is a psycho that will use this as motivation in the offseason? Absolutely. It’ll be a lot easier for the Phillies to win the World Series if Harper gets back to elite status. But for right now the good news is Bryce Harper isn’t going anywhere.
