The Phillies #6 prospect, Griff McGarry, had a rough night. This is one of the strangest box scores you’ll ever see in baseball:

0.0 IP, 0 H, 7 R, 7 ER, 6 BB, 0 K, and a 50.63 ERA.

Wild. Even weirder the only batter he didn’t walk he hit with a pitch. He threw 35 pitches and only seven for strikes in his second AAA start. Is McGarry on work release from the California Penal League?

He has now given up 15 ER and has 9 walks in only 2.2 innings pitched. Something you can hang your hat on for the 24 year old is batters are only hitting .188 off him…when they get a pitch to hit. He’s struggled with control his entire career. Even losing his starting spot in the rotation during his senior year at Virginia. FWIW McGarry had an oblique injury and didn’t start the season on time.

Hopefully the Phillies can fix him or maybe turn him into a dominant reliever so we can bring back “Wild Thing” every time he trots in from the bullpen:

Maybe he needs Jeff Hoffman’s new glove as a reminder – “Fuck All Hitters”:
