Sniff sniff.

I woke up this morning to a bunch of Bryce Harper-related chatter in the Crossing Broad Slack channel. Some tweets, some speculation, and a yearning on my part that something actually happens today or this week because baseball free agency is just so damn boring.

Over at DraftKings Sportsbook, odds to win the 2019 World Series currently are listed as:

  • Red Sox/Astros/Yankees: +600
  • Dodgers: +700
  • Cubs/Phillies: +1100
  • Braves: +1200
  • Indians/Brewers/Mets/Cardinals: +1600

Hmm… that’s strong.

SugarHouse also has the Phils listed at +1100 while 888sport has the Phils at +1200.

One discrepancy I see is over at FanDuel, after the jump:

And the other is at BetStars, where the Phillies are listed at 17/1 to win the Series.

So the odds at three of those sites smell somewhat Bryce Harper-ish. Those lines are fairly favorable given that the Phillies, as currently constructed, are probably the third best team in the division. The other two are “less than.”

Could it be?

Is it?

Will it really happen?

Is Bryce Harper really coming to Philadelphia?

We will see.

This is Harper Watch 2019. More nonsense to come.
