Harrison Bader is the Mets Killer

Good morning to fans of the Philadelphia Phillies, who are nine games up in the National League East following a 9-3 pasting of the New York Mets on Tuesday night. Kyle Schwarber blasted his 50th Schwarbomb of the season and Ranger Suarez looked like prime Nolan Ryan out there.
A moment, then, to recognize Harrison Bader, who has done this in five games vs. the Mets since coming over from Minnesota at the trade deadline:
- August 25th: 1-3, a walk
- August 26th: 3-4, one home run, one double, two RBI, and a run scored
- August 27th: 0-3
- September 8th: 3-4
- September 9th: 3-5, one home run, two RBI, two runs scored
Add it up and Bader is 10 for 19 in his last five against New York, clubbing two home runs and driving in four runs. He also appeared in two games vs. the Mets while still with the Twins, going 5 for 7 at the plate and plating two runs. He’s just been killing these guys in 2025, and doing the job in the field as well. There was a bad bit of baserunning on Monday night, but nothing else to write home about in the Negadelphia department.
Funny enough, Bader has killed the Mets at his other stops. The career splits are 111 plate appearances over 32 games, amounting to a .346 average, .378 on-base percentage, and .529 slugging percentage. He has a .907 career OPS against the Mutts with 36 hits and 13 RBI. He’s stolen eight bases against them, which is third most, behind just the Cubs and Reds.
Great trade! The vibes are high.
