Important Mascot News: Phanatic in Diamondbacks’ Booth, Burger King Retires The King

Well this is odd. On Monday, Howard Eskin announced that he was stepping down from his afternoon hosting duties. Not four days later we learn Burger King is going to retire The King. This is all too weird. [Philly.com]
On Monday, inflammatory sports-yakker Howard Eskin announced he was giving up his daily radio gig at WIP.
Today, Burger King is expected to announce big advertising changes, including the “dethroning the creepy King character,” according to USA Today.
Coincidence?

On to to mascots that don’t frighten us… The Phanatic stopped by the Diamondbacks broadcast booth last night. He stole Mark Grace’s gig before watching John Mayberry Jr. launch a two-run home run. The video is after the jump. Grace: he… he isn’t funny.
