With the advent of a new score bug in 2025, the Phillies vs. Pirates POOP game is no more. Tom McCarthy and NBC Sports Philadelphia thusly paid tribute to the late POOP game on Friday night:

“Before we continue with this telecast, we have to address what is on everybody’s minds and hearts. July 29th, 2022, our beloved score bug first lit up the screens here with Phillies television. It was more than just a scoreboard; it was a legend, an unforgettable icon. It’s name, once met with chuckles, quickly became synonymous with good times and fierce rivalries. As the final out arrives on its bright and brilliant run, it will be missed. Gone, but never forgotten.”

A touching tribute. Almost brings a tear to your eye. There are funerals that weren’t as moving as this.

The POOP game is a game that will live forever. RIP to POOP.
