The Phillies escaped Opening Weekend with a series win, an 11-strikeout debut from Jesus Luzardo, and no major injuries. There were two minor injuries to J.T. Realmuto (bruised foot) and Trea Turner (back spasms). Luckily for the Phillies, both players are fine and will not see any time on the IL:

Realmuto took a ball off of the foot late in Saturday’s game and the Phillies pulled him for precautionary reasons. They gave Realmuto the day off on Sunday, but Rob Thomson said that Realmuto will be back in the lineup today for the home opener.

Turner felt something in his back ahead of Saturday’s game and didn’t either weekend game. Thomson said Turner most likely won’t be in the lineup for Monday’s home opener, and with the Phillies off day Tuesday, there’s no reason to rush Turner back out there for one game. Give him four days off and get him back in the lineup on Wednesday.

Turner spoke to reporters following Saturday’s game and said it wasn’t the first time he felt something in his back this year.

Thomson spoke to reporters Sunday before the series finale and said that if there was an emergency, both Realmuto and Turner would be able to play. Expect J.T. to be back Monday, and Turner on Wednesday.
