Is it “Have A Catch” or “Play Catch”?

This is an argument I’m not proud to say still upends my friend group today. When you’re going out to throw the baseball around do you ask if you want to “have a catch” or “play catch”? Here’s what MLB All Stars said:

What an absolute bloodbath from “play catch.” It’s “have a catch” by the way and it will always be “have a catch.” You can’t “play catch.” When you play something there needs to be a winner. A baseball game, pickup basketball, darts, beer Olympics, everything. You play to win the game. For anyone out there that says it’s “play catch” do you want to be on the same side as this dork?

“When she says have a catch, but keeps sucking.”

I’ll leave you with my final argument. One of the greatest baseball scenes of all time. Ray Kinsella doesn’t ask his pops if he wants to “play catch”. You know why? Because he would’ve walked right back into that cornfield and never shown his face again due to shame:
