Jake Diekman left Philly as a little added bonus for the Rangers in the Cole Hamels deal. In 62 games with the Rangers he has a 2.63 ERA with a very good 3.18 strikeout to walk rate, both increases to the numbers he put up in Philly. Why? Maybe it’s because people aren’t wishing death upon him on Twitter anymore.

Diek told Rickie Ricardo that one of the major differences between Rangers fans and Phillies fans is their desire for you to die:

“I feel like it’s like a different feel for a different part of the country. I feel like they realize it’s a marathon not a sprint, so if you have a rough game they don’t send you death threats on Twitter.”

A cursory Twitter search only pulled up this tweet:

Look, death threats aren’t cool or funny, even if they’re on twitter. Not at all. But maybe, just maybe, if we all told him to choke on a nutsack today, that would be funny.

Kyle: And then of course there were these Tweets to Diekman.
