Jesus Luzardo Following Nick Sirianni and Bryce Harper in Vibe-Shifting Hair Adjustments

Jesus Luzardo on the mound in Toronto this afternoon:
Luzardo got rocked in his last appearance, which ended with Weston Wilson throwing two scoreless innings in relief, angering Ricky Bo in the process. He gave up 12 runs on 12 hits over three and a third innings of work, quite easily his worst outing of the year after being stellar through mid May. Now he’s taking the Nick Sirianni and Bryce Harper approach, not necessarily buzzing or shaving his head, but going with the cornrows instead, like Allen Iverson or a UFC fighter with long hair securing the lettuce before securing the rear-naked choke.
In terms of information that is actually more useful, only two Toronto Blue Jays have faced Luzardo, who has pitched the vast majority of his Major League innings in the National League. That’s George Springer, who is 2-6 with a homer against Luzardo, and Myles Straw, who is 1-7 with three strikeouts. If you’re one of those people who places value in a lineup not having seen a pitcher previously, then this afternoon bodes well for a Jesus turnaround. Note, however, that the Jays hit lefties slightly better than righties this season, slashing .259/.347/.400. In particular, Vlad Guerrero Jr. and Ernie Clement have an OPS above 1.000 against left-handers in 2025.
Regardless, we know how hair adjustment helped Sirianni and Harper and the train must keep rolling. Jesus take the wheel.
