NBC Sports Philadelphia sent out a press release laying out their spring training coverage, and a few paragraphs down there’s a blurb about Jim Salisbury:

PHILADELPHIA (February 19, 2026) – NBC Sports Philadelphia is kicking off the Philadelphia Phillies 2026 MLB season with extensive spring training coverage, highlighted by 17 live games and extensive TV, digital and social content.

NBC Sports Philadelphia’s 17-game Phillies spring training schedule – which includes seven matchups on NBC Sports Philadelphia and 10 on NBC Sports Philadelphia Plus — gets underway with the team’s exhibition opener at the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday, February 21 at 1 p.m. ET.

NBC Sports Philadelphia’s Phillies live spring training games will feature play-by-play announcer Tom McCarthy and veteran analysts Ruben Amaro, Jr., Ben Davis, and John Kruk rotating in the booth. Phillies legend Cole Hamels will return as a game analyst on a part-time basis.

Jim Salisbury, who previously served as the Phillies writer/reporter for NBC Sports Philadelphia from 2010 to 2022, returns as a digital writer covering the Phillies. The veteran sports reporter has more than 30 years of experience reporting on baseball and 26 years covering the Phillies.

A new addition to NBC Sports Philadelphia’s Phillies coverage is digital reporter Cole Weintraub. Weintraub previously served as a contributor for MLB Pipeline and MiLB.

In addition, special spring training editions of NBC Sports Philadelphia’s popular Phillies Talk Podcast presented by Team Toyota, featuring hosts Sean Kane and Spencer McKercher, will feature comprehensive team/player progress reports and special guest interviews.

Additional Phillies spring training digital coverage can be found 24/7 at NBC10.com and Telemundo62.com, along with the NBC10 and Telemundo62 apps.

Salisbury left NBC Sports Philadelphia in January of 2023 and later linked up with PHLY. He also does the Phillies Show podcast with Todd Zolecki and Ruben Amaro Jr. He hasn’t made any sort of announcement about returning to NBCSP, and this press release is the first thing I’ve seen about it, so I’ll ask around for more details. It just says “digital writer,” so not sure if he’ll be back on the broadcasts or not. We will “effort” that information.

Getting Salisbury back in any form would be a big deal for NBC Sports Philadelphia. They lost Corey Seidman a few years after Salisbury left, and could really go for some experience and institutional baseball knowledge. Weintraub, who is also mentioned in the release, is a recent Syracuse grad and still new to the scene. Salisbury has been one of the best in the business for decades.
