John Middleton started tearing up over WIP’s Phillies postseason montage or he got some crab fry seasoning in his eye:
Phillies managing partner John Middleton gets emotional while listening to our postseason montage.
Middleton: “Goosebump moments. That’s a replay of my life…That [background] reaction [from the fans] that’s why my job is important. That’s my mission in life.”

My god how can you not love this guy? He might be the most relatable billionaire ever. Dude’s built up an empire in the tobacco industry, stepping on the throats of others, suing his own family members for the company, and that montage transformed him back to his childhood. The Phillies aren’t just an asset in this guy’s portfolio, they’re a lifestyle to him. If every owner was like John Middleton, sports would be a better fan experience – minus the insane concession prices. There is no owner in sports who deserves a World Series trophy more than the BOIB. He spends money, he interacts with the fans, and he wants to create more great memories for people to share with their families. Every Phillies fan can relate to the story he told about watching the final out of the 1980 World Series with his dad at The Vet and walking Broad Street after.
Remember when some people ranked the owners in this city like this a week ago? Despicable:
1. Dan Hilferty
2. John Middleton
3. Jeffrey Lurie
4. Josh Harris https://t.co/vM6SlY2GOo— Russ Joy (@JoyOnBroad) September 26, 2024
