Kyle Gibson Is Obviously a True Philly Guy

How about this Kyle Gibson guy, huh?

Six innings of one-run baseball and a go-ahead RBI single in the fifth.

Not a bad home debut. Not bad at all.

Beyond his stellar performance, Gibson also endeared himself to the strong home crowd at Citizens Bank Park by demonstrating some overt intensity.

After loading the bases with nobody out to begin the fourth, Gibson struck out Marcus Stroman before inducing a key 4-6-3 double play off the bat of Brandon Nimmo to escape the jam unscathed. The man was understandably pumped up.

That same intensity showed up an inning later after he sat down Javy Báez to strand a leadoff double.

Kyle Gibson. A player who gets it. A true Philly guy.
