After Kyle Schwarber talked about the “business of winning” and cheesesteaks in his first press conference as a Phil, we had to make a Pandering BINGO board for Nick Castellanos. Here is what we were working with going into Wednesday:

All of these have been said or done over the years by a Philly athlete and we’ll update the board as more big name free agents sign or players are traded here. Here’s how Nick Castellanos did:

Crossing Broad Sportsbook set the O/U at 5.5 and the under EASILY cashed. We checked off “Enjoys Booing” early when he was asked if fans were going to embrace him or not but stalled out after that:

So we didn’t get the normal pandering bullshit, but that doesn’t mean this wasn’t one of the most memorable press conferences in the last 20 years. Nick Castellanos will be beloved by Phillies fans by the time he leaves. Whether it’s “I don’t have a college degree. I hit baseballs…” –

I don’t know if Bobby Wankel is sitting in on press conferences at CBP this year, but that guy better be ready to go to war!

Then before the ink can dry on his new $100 million contract, he’s taking grounders at 3B. I’m in love with Nick Castellanos:

This is exactly what the Phillies’ clubhouse needs. A guy who just doesn’t give a fuck and will play balls to the wall everyday:
