Mets/Yankees Weekend Series Postponed Due to COVID

Womp womp.
The Mets/Yankees game was postponed today due to a couple of COVID positives in the Mets’ camp, but now Major League Baseball is scrapping the entire weekend series.
Here’s the press release, courtesy of Yanks writer Bryan Hoch:
ESPN’s Jeff Passan reported that the Mets had one player and one staff member test positive, which first resulted in the postponement of Thursday’s game with the Marlins.
Major League Baseball also put out a separate COVID testing update, revealing that they found seven positive samples out of 12,485 tests done this week. Those seven positives accounted for three players and four staff members, five of which are “Major League Club personnel” and two comprising “Alternate Site personnel.”
Of note, the Phillies and Mets are next scheduled to play on September 4th, which begins a four-game series.
