Mike Francesa Claims the Mets Were Broken Up Because of Donald Trump

On The Mike Francesa Podcast, Francesa says the reason Brandon Nimmo was traded is because he and Francisco Lindor couldn’t get along due to differences over Donald Trump:
“The Nimmo/Lindor thing my understand was political. Had to do with Trump. One side liked Trump, one side didn’t like Trump. So Trump’s splitting up the Mets between Nimmo and Lindor, my understanding is it started over Trump, crazy as it sounds.”
LOLMETS!
Could you imagine if the 2008 Phillies had to be split up over Obama or the 1927 Yankees couldn’t co-exist because of their differing views of Calvin Coolidge and the ramifications of the Roaring 20s? It’s a sideshow over there in Queens. Steve Cohen is acting like he’s broke and the only thing he cares about is building his casino empire. Sure, the Phillies are basically running it back with a bunch of old guys and the newly-acquired Cuban Castellanos, and probably still aren’t a World Series favorite, but at least we’re not the Mets! Even if we run it back it’s still a team that won the division by 10+ games. They’ve got Lindor for five more seasons and Juan Soto for almost two more decades and they already hate each other.
It’s not the first time Lindor has had a problem with teammates. Remember he and Jeff McNeil went at it and then tried to sell us a story they were fighting over a rat or raccoon in the dugout? This has to be one of the worst cover ups New York has ever seen since Andrew Cuomo tried to convince us he wasn’t horny, he was just Italian:
There was also a report this offseason from Mike Puma at the New York Post of McNeil and Lindor clashing again this season over a defensive mishap in Philadelphia.
What a mess. I know I said Steve Cohen was broke before, but honestly I wouldn’t pay free agents either when I have Lindor in there causing friction with everyone. He’s the catalyst in all of this. Frankie Baseball had one MVP-type season and got too big for his britches. At least the Mets have their World Series when they beat the Phillies in the 2024 NLDS. Hang the banner!
