An almost predicted Aaron Heilman Special:

Aaron Heilman Special: Any game in which a comeback is inevitable against a shaken closer. Phils win in an epic – and often hilarious – fashion. See also: Broxton, Jonathan; Wagner, Billy. Heightened: Stream Out of the Dugout Game, or, when done in postseason, takes on the name Jimmmmy!!!

It wasn't exactly the situation described above, but here’s a text I received from my buddy just before the top of the 10th:

Welcome to my World. But you might be asking: Why the hate for Hawkins, Kyle? He’s had a good season.

Indeed he has. However, this isn’t the first time he’s blown a game against the Phillies. In fact, it’s not the first time he’s blown a game with an overthrow to first.

May 6th, 2005, Phillies vs. Cubs [Yahoo.com]

LaTroy Hawkins caught Placido Polanco’s line drive back to the mound and threw to first base for what could have been a game-ending double play. The ball hit Jose Offerman’s helmet and ricocheted deep into the stands, allowing the tying and go-ahead runs to score.

Heh.

Our magical steed wasn’t his usual excellent self last night, he allowed a whopping one earned run and six hits in seven innings while walking two whole batters. The horror.

Perhaps more disturbingly, he scratched his hoof in the third inning while trying to lay down a bunt. He talked about it after the game. Video via David Hale.

Cliff Lee remains completely unfazed by success.

Chooch got blown up by Casey McGehee, but wasn’t mad about it. In fact, he was rather polite:

Since trading for Hunter Pence, the Phillies are 28-9 with more than a 20-point increase in team batting average. Quite honestly, that’s ridiculous.

Finally, Ruben Amaro is quite confident in the Phillies. He was pitch-side at the Union match at PPL Park last night: [photo via @thebrotherlygame]

Not surprisingly, he looked rather smug.
