Meantime, on Washington Nationals Reddit:

The Eagles chants have to be the cherry on top of the miserable sundae. You’re getting pummeled in your own building and then you’re reminded of the 55-23 belt-to-ass whooping you took in the NFC Championship Game. Brutal. What’s next, we go down there and take over their Hard Rock Cafe?

In response, the first comment from R/Grecksan sums it up succinctly:

“Best way to do that is have an organization that invests in winning again.”

Correct. Washington’s payroll is 26th this season. It was 22nd the year before and 26th before that. And when they won 93 games and the World Series with Max Scherzer and Anthony Rendon and Ryan Zimmerman it was 5th. It really wasn’t THAT long ago that they were outspending the Phillies and winning consistently, so it’s not some magic formula. Once Nats ownership gets serious about winning again, and/or the Phils cool off, things will shift.

As you know, the Phillies are 54-22 against the Nats since the admin running their Twitter account put out the graphic about how easy it was to beat Philadelphia. The Fightins will look to improve that number to 55-22 this afternoon with a sweep.
