Nick Castellanos Hires New Representation With Unknown Phillies Future

Nick Castellanos has hired Mato Sports Management to represent him, according to Jon Heyman of the New York Post.
As we get farther and farther away from the 2025 Phillies season, it seems like Castellanos’ chances of returning to the Phillies in 2026 are getting smaller by the day. It was reported last week by The Athletic that Nick Castellanos is expected to be released or traded by the Phillies this offseason.
It was a disappointing 2025 season for Castellanos, hitting .250 with a .694 OPS in 147 games. His .694 OPS is good for 128th in baseball among qualified hitters. Mixed into his below-average play on the field was the moment with Rob Thomson in the dugout in Miami and Castellanos’ quote about Thomson’s communication toward the end of the season.
Castellanos was represented by Scott Boras through the 2024 season, but dropped the Boras Agency following that season. He represented himself for a year, and will now look to Mato Sports Management as he’ll be in many trade talks or release scenarios this offseason.
Cristopher Sanchez, the Phillies ace who will soon finish 2nd in the NL Cy Young voting, is represented by the same agency.
