Literally the only positive thing to happen to the Phillies this offseason… and it’s for a guy who pitched in under 10 regular season games for them.*

The other members of the HOF class? Randy Johnson, John Smoltz and Craig Biggio. My 90s thing is going off like crazy right now and it feels so good. Someone get me a Smashing Pumpkins CD and a poster of Kelly Kapowski, shit’s about to get real weird!

The BWAA released the list of its 549 voting members this year. Besides Cooney, who tweeted out his ballot, the other local guys are: Stan Hochman, Jack McCaffery, Dan Gelston, Rob Maaddi, Jayson Stark, Paul Hagen, and current FLYERS BEAT WRITERS SAM CARCHIDI AND RANDY MILLER. I can’t tell you how mad that last part makes me. But I can imagine how douchey David Murphy will be about his vote when he gets one.

Also, I look forward to Curt Schilling’s pissed off Tweets on the matter. Here’s the first one:

*I still can’t believe Pedro started two World Series games for the Phillies in 2009. It’s like a hole in my memory that has been patched over by an extended version of Cliff Lee’s Game 1 of pissed, nonchalant excellence. God I miss good baseball. Fuck you, Ruben.
