Phillies Fan Holds Up Sign at Spring Training that Says “Phree Trevor Bauer #Innocent”

Let’s call out the first thing before we start, this sign makes absolutely zero sense. What do you mean “Phree T. Bauer?” It’s not like Bauer is holed in the state pen. He’s traveling with a Japanese showcase team and making content on YouTube. Shamu has fewer privileges than this guy.

Now, from a baseball angle you could easily make the case why Bauer is worth an invite for any team in the league. You can’t argue he’d be a serviceable third or fourth starter on the Phillies right now. But we’re not just talking about a baseball angle with this guy. There is no shot the Phillies sign him. They don’t want another Odubel Hererra situation on their hands, whether fans believe he’s guilty or not. The media circus isn’t really worth a 33 year old who might be your fourth best starter when you already have a World Series team. I’d think the Phils would rather just wait out the Jordan Montgomery or Blake Snell situation and hopefully have it fall in their favor or grab a pitcher at the deadline.
