Three Phillies were announced as 2026 National League awards finalists.
Cristopher Sanchez: Cy Young
The Phillies ace was fantastic for a fourth straight season, posting a 2.91 ERA over 33 starts (18 wins) with 231 strikeouts and an 8.1 WAR for the second straight year.
Sanchez has now combined for a 16.2 WAR, 443 strikeouts, 31 wins, and 409 innings across 65 starts over the last two seasons. It’s pretty crazy to think that Sanchez won’t walk away from either of those seasons with a Cy Young.
He’s a finalist alongside Atlanta’s Chris Sale and World Series Champion Jacob Misiorowski, who is the heavy favorite to take home the award.
Jhoan Duran: Reliever of the Year
Duran is a finalist alongside Milwaukee’s Trevor Megill and San Diego’s Mason Miller.
He was lights out in his first full season in Philadelphia, tallying a 1.82 ERA across 61 appearances (55 games finished) with 33 saves across 59.1 innings. Duran totaled a 3.4 WAR and allowed just 49 hits and two home runs all season, while walking ten batters and striking out 84.
Don Mattingly: Manager of the Year
Mattingly took over for Rob Thomson on April 28th following a 9-19 start. Under his watch, the team posted a 79-55 record (.590%), one of the best across the entire sport over the last 134 games of the season.
The Phillies tried to hire Alex Cora back in April, but Cora declined. The Phillies tried to hire Cora again after the season, and he declined again. Ultimately, the Phillies removed the interim tag from Don Mattingly and gave him a two year extension through the 2028 season.
Mattingly is up against Walt Weiss of the Atlanta Braves and Pat Murphy of the Brewers, who is a back-to-back winner of the award.
