Phillies Make Another Move with Twins, Acquire Outfielder Harrison Bader

The Phillies traded for Harrison Bader from the Minnesota Twins, according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan.
Bader, 31, is hitting .258/.339/.439 with a .778 OPS this season. He’s played 96 games, logging 70 hits, 13 doubles, 12 homers, 38 RBIs, and 10 stolen bases. Bader is very even when it comes to splits, holding a .774 OPS against lefties and a .779 OPS against righties.
Hendry Mendez and Geremy Villoria are going back to the Twins in the deal, per Matt Gelb:
Bader is an immediate upgrade in the outfield, especially when it comes to defense. He’s in the 92nd percentile in fielding this year, with five outs above average. There is a mutual option for Bader in 2026 worth $10M.
It’s not the flashiest move, but the outfield got better and the Phillies gave up two prospects that a lot of people hadn’t even heard of before 15 minutes ago.
The Phillies got another right-handed bat, something they desperately needed. They kept their top prospects again. Maybe there’s still another move to be made? We’ll see. A little under five hours to go until the deadline.
