Phillies Open the Stupid Money Wallet to Sign Nick Castellanos

This broke right when I was passing out last night after several beers and pizza slices:
Outfielder Nick Castellanos and the Philadelphia Phillies are in agreement on a contract, sources familiar with the deal tell ESPN.

Amazing. We thought this would be a decent offseason if they went out and got one of Kyle Schwarber, Kris Bryant, OR Nick Castellanos, and they actually went out and got TWO of those guys while cresting the luxury tax threshold for the first time ever. Credit where it’s due, because John Middleton is spending that stupid money and putting together a team that can be competitive with the defending World Series champion Braves and similarly-big spending Mets. The NL East is a monster! What a division.
This lineup is gonna absolutely rake. They will give up eight runs but they will score 10 runs, so hammer the over as soon as you can. There is power all throughout, and now one of these guys can DH instead of going out in the field to have various defensive adventures.
Joe Girardi is working with something like this in 2022:
- Schwarber (DH)
- Segura (second base)
- Harper (RF)
- Hoskins (first base)
- Castellanos (LF)
- Realmuto (catcher)
- Bohm (third base)
- Herrera/Vierling platoon (CF)
- Gregorius/Stott (short stop)
Love it.
Another question is this –
What is the shelf life on the Thom Brennaman joke? Can we use it for another week? Another month? Another year? Has it already jumped the shark? And that will be a deep drive into left field for a home run.
Bryce Harper woke up to the news of the Nick Castellanos signing this morning. He said he told Bryson Stott that it’s a “good day to be a Phillie.” pic.twitter.com/QmIxtVQ04P
