Phillies Set to Meet With Free Agent Bo Bichette

Whoah:
Gelb and Ken Rosenthal are reporting that it’s a video call “in the coming days.”
Bo Bichette is one of the biggest free agents on the market, and probably the biggest infielder out there for grabs. The trio of Bichette, Alex Bregman, and Kyle Tucker are the three huge free-agent position players still remaining, and nearly every big market team has some sort of interest in at least two of them.
Bichette to Philly has felt like sort of a pipe dream for a while, but if you’ve read Crossing Broad this offseason, you know that I’ve been beating the drum on getting him to Philadelphia.
This is the most-likely route that the Phillies would have to take to land the infielder, and, as the story also states, he Phillies have done “extensive work on the various roster rippled effects of signing him.”
The Phillies and JT Realmuto have entered a standoff. The assumption is that Realmuto feels he should be making more, or getting more years on his deal, than the Phillies feel comfortable with. Who could be Realmuto’s replacement? There are a few options. Victor Caratini would be one of the likelier free agent options. Caratini, as Gelb and Rosenthal pointed out in the story, seems to be waiting to sign until after Realmuto.
Trading Bohm would clear up $10.2 million, which the Phillies and Bohm agreed to on Thursday to avoid arbitration.
Getting a meeting with Bichette is huge for the team. Jon Heyman of the New York Post reported earlier that Phillies players have been texting Bichette about coming to Philadelphia. The players are doing their part, and now the front office will try to land the plane of Bichette in Philadelphia:
- Turner
- Bichette
- Harper
- Schwarber
That’s one hell of a top 4.
