The Phillies announced a boatload of roster moves ahead of Friday’s deadline:

  • Agreed to terms on contracts for 2026: Rafael Marchán and Garrett Stubbs
  • Tendered contracts to seven arbitration-eligible players: Alec Bohm, Edmundo Sosa, Bryson Stott, Brandon Marsh, Jhoan Duran, Tanner Banks, and Jesús Luzardo
  • The club did not tender contracts to: Michael Mercado and Daniel Robert

Every arbitration-eligible player was tendered a contract, with both of the Phillies’ backup catchers already coming to a deal. Mercado and Robert were not arb-eligible just yet.

The deadline for the player and team to agree on a contract is January 9th. If a player does not agree to the figure offered by the Phillies, they’ll go to an arbitration hearing.

Tendering contracts to each of the 7 players was pretty obvious. The only one that was a possibility of a non-tender was Alec Bohm, who is projected to make around $10M in arbitration in his final year, according to MLB Trade Rumors. Bohm could still be available on the trade market this offseason.

Announced earlier on Friday, the Phillies claimed Pedro Leon off of waivers from the Baltimore Orioles. Leon slashed .299/.372/.514 in Triple-A Sugar Land in 2024 before missing a good portion of 2025 with knee issues.
