Phillies’ Video Call with Bo Bichette Reportedly Went “Very Well,” So Let’s Get the Man a Contract to Sign
Jon Heyman probably carrying organizational water here, but you’d like to assume that this is true.
Let’s go down the list:
- first class organization: no doubt! John Middleton is a legit dude and just wants to get his fucking trophy back
- roster: still one of the best in the league if you ignore the outfield
- park: CBP is always rocking when the Phillies are good
- Mattingly’s link: Don Mattingly was the Jays’ bench coach for the last few seasons, so there’s familiarity
- spring proximity to home: he’s from Orlando. both the Phils and Jays go to the Tampa area for spring training
Of course the other suitors are the biggest MLB teams, who are linked to every player. That should be an automatic sentence you add to end of every report. Hopefully the Zoom call went well enough that we can get the guy to Citizens Bank Park for an in-person meeting. Just make sure Matt Klentak leaves the door unlocked this time, and clear the street of union electricians beforehand. Nothing against union electricians, but when Tom Cudeyro told Manny Machado to “do the right thing and sign,” Machado went to San Diego instead.
Thankfully, we ended up with Bryce Harper.
