Ok we’re good:

Bob Nightengale is reporting five years, $130 million, which is $26 million a year. That would have put Ranger in the top five of the Phils’ 2026 payroll. It was always going to be super difficult to keep him here.

Suarez was linked to the Mets along with Framber Valdez, who remains on the market. Thankfully Ranger goes to the American League and lands with a good franchise.

They’ll enjoy him up there in Boston in a rotation with Garret Crochet and Sonny Gray. Ranger is one of the best Phillies from this recent run, always cool, always calm, and pitched well in big moments. Red Sox fans can expect weak contact, not a lot of walks, and a 3.20 to 3.65-ish ERA. Good luck to the man and congrats on getting “the bag,” as they say.
