Rob Thomson said after Wednesday night’s 7-2 Phillies win that Ranger Suarez will return to the starting rotation this weekend:

Suarez threw a bullpen ahead of Wednesday’s game, and Thomson said he looked “really good.” The Phillies said the bullpen session determined if he needed one more rehab start or not, but Thomson said he’s ready to go on Sunday.

The Phillies will now have three legitimate left-handed starters in their rotation, adding Suarez back with Cristopher Sanchez and Jesus Luzardo.

The rich get richer. The Phillies already have one of the best starting staffs in baseball, and it just got a lot better with Suarez’s return. The lefty will be reinstated from the 15-day IL (lower back stiffness) sometime before Sunday and make his 2025 debut. The Phillies will need to clear a spot on the 26-man roster for Suarez’s return.
