If you can’t beat ’em or join ’em, analyze them? If we’re to believe a report from the Philadelphia Inquirer‘s Bob Brookover, former Phillies GM Ruben Amaro Jr. could be headed to NBC Sports Philadelphia to serve as an analyst:

Amaro served most recently as a special advisor to the New York Mets’ rookie GM Brodie Van Wagenen, but opted to walk away from a similar offer for the 2020 season. Prior to that, he spent two seasons as the first-base coach of the Boston Red Sox.

Of course, Amaro is most remembered for his time with the Phillies, serving as assistant GM for ten seasons under Ed Wade and Pat Gillick, then assuming the GM job from 2009-2015 until new team president Andy MacPhail axed him.

Honestly, I look forward to hearing what the guy has to say. We see former front office members serving on national baseball panels and, though occasionally off-base, they often offer a different perspective on the game and team construction.
