Bryce Harper is going to try and swing a bat today for the first time since getting hit in the elbow by Spencer Strider on Tuesday.

Harper did some light field work at first base on Friday night, and did some running drills in the outfield on Saturday afternoon. He has yet to truly throw a baseball or swing a bat. Rob Thomson spoke on Bryce Harper’s elbow before the game.

He’s going to try and swing today and throw today, he hasn’t done that yet. It’s really bruised today. The bruising started to come, the swelling is down a little bit…

Kyle Schwarber has been taking some ground balls at first base. Rob Thomson said that’s part of Schwarber’s routine, and that he does that every once in a while. Thomson added that Schwarber has taken more over the last few days just incase that situation was needed. For now, Alec Bohm will continue to take down innings at first until Harper returns.

Thomson also said that Aaron Nola is still on track to throw an extended bullpen on Sunday afternoon. He noted that Nola’s next step would be seeing some hitters in a live batting practice, followed by a rehab assignment once he’s ready to go.

Game 2 of a 3-game set against Milwaukee starts today at 4:05 EST. Jesus Luzardo on the bump. Here’s how the Phillies will line up.
